Over the last few months the Project Team has been investigating leasing options and planning options under the new state government planning guidelines for golf course land.

Leasing Options

Further to the inquiry from the former Mayor regarding potentially leasing the site to City of Kingston for Council to re-establish an 18-hole public golf course, representatives from the Project Team met Council officers in November to discuss the option.

The Project Team provided an indication of the potential base level costs for Council’s information and advised that after considering the leasing, as well as other options, had decided to proceed with developing a new proposal for the site.

Golf Guidelines

Earlier this year the state government released Planning Guidelines for the Conversion of Golf Course Land to Other Purposes in Victoria.

After considering a range of options, AustralianSuper has decided to develop a new proposal for the former golf course site in line with these new planning guidelines,

The proposal will be informed by the extensive community and stakeholder engagement feedback gained over many years and will aim to balance the needs of the many stakeholders (including the local community, Government and statutory authorities).

We will follow the process set out in the Guidelines and work closely with the relevant planning authority. Updates will be provided on this website

In the meantime, we will continue to maintain the site so it is safe for people working on it and for surrounding neighbours.
